The Maintenance and Engineering Director is responsible for leadership and development of the Maintenance department, driving performance in operational reliability and associated KPIs, providing technical expertise and guidance to the sites, and supporting engineering projects across Western Canada.
Responsibilities
- Champion quality, cost, service, and safety performance for the Western Canada Supply Chain.
- Lead the Maintenance and Engineering department, supporting in employee and team development, people planning, and performance management.
- Develop and coach Managers, Supply Chain Leaders, and Team Members to solve operational issues and achieve performance outcomes.
- Drive organizational health within the Maintenance & Engineering department through strong employee relations in partnership with Human Resources.
- Ensure that continuous improvement processes are followed and influence change across multiple teams.
- Execute effective change management to drive business performance while minimizing people impacts.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional leaders to collaborate on strategic planning, problem solving, and performance achievement.
- Hold ultimate responsibility for maintenance and optimization of all facility equipment, auxiliary function equipment, building infrastructure, grounds, and utilities.
- Provide technical knowledge in the development of capital planning and project engineering.
- Maintain P&L responsibility over maintenance cost centers including repair and maintenance, maintenance labour, utilities and capital improvement plans.
- Responsible for regulatory, environmental and legal compliance related to Maintenance and utilities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or similar.Technical and leadership experience in lieu of education may be considered.Prior experience leading a large and complex team; demonstrating leadership capabilities through influence, collaboration, and coaching mentality.Unwavering commitment to performance and achievement of exceptional business results.Project management skills including business development, compensation, continuous improvement decision making, employee benefits, group leadership, and interpersonal skill leadershipDemonstrated ability working in a complex, unstructured environment, making quick decisions based on dynamic variables.Effective communication in all formats to support in cross-functional collaboration, problem solving, people development, and coaching / mentorship.
