We are looking for an experienced and driven Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization based in Guelph, Ontario. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing accounting functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, coupled with a proven ability to lead teams and drive operational efficiency.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and review accurate financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies, addressing any discrepancies or risks.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead the development and execution of annual budgets and financial forecasts, collaborating with department leaders.
- Monitor budget performance and provide actionable insights to address variances.
- Oversee inventory accounting and ensure effective inventory control processes to minimize losses.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate reporting.
- Manage cash flow and optimize working capital through effective accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and address any findings promptly.
- Supervise and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or similar designation preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance within a distribution or wholesale industry is an asset.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of inventory accounting and financial planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, capable of guiding teams effectively.
- Familiarity with tax regulations, including corporate and sales tax compliance, is highly desirable.
