WVRST is looking for a responsible, dynamic, growth oriented individual who is willing to learn and take on increasing responsibilities in a supervisory position for our kitchen.
Reporting to the Chef, the Sous Chef will oversee food production and motivate staff to work in an efficient, clean and timely manor. This competent individual will be hands on with cooking and managing their teams
The position is also responsible for coaching cooks and resolving issues. The goal is to ensure that the kitchen runs smoothly and productively.

Job Duties
- Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Supervise cooks with consistent safe and sanitary food storage, preparation and cooking. Manage and work the line during lunch and dinner service. Monitor and control maintenance/sanitation of the kitchen and equipment. Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
Evaluate staff performance. Train kitchen employees to maximize productivity and minimize waste. Accurate purchasing of all food items to maintain adequate par levels and work in a fast paced environment Promote and maintain effective communication between FOH and BOH staff. Check all workstations to ensure proper set-up and sanitation. Report any incidents of guest dissatisfaction or other matters of significance to the chef and manager on duty so that corrective measures may be taken. Assist in the research and development of new menu items.
Job Requirements
- Experience in a kitchen supervisory role. Possess a valid ‘food handlers certificate’. Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Is very hands on and motivates others by setting the example.
