DesignLab is looking for a research associate with 2-3 years of experience in quantitative research, statistical analysis, and a background in human related experiments to work on a construction documentation process improvement. They will integrate high-resolution biometrial measures combined to explore human workers’ cognitive abilities under stressed conditions through advanced biometrical measures.

The perfect candidate would investigate how the biometrical measures and behavioral data respond to different stress levels under complex context in various construction projects. Coupling these techniques with signal processing and machine learning approaches, our overarching goal is to provide quantitative measures to help human workers keep working at good documentation performance and efficiency under different scenarios.

Responsibilities Conduct independent research focusing on EEG analysis and data analysis techniques.

Lead the development of research design, experiment design, and research pipelines based on the confronted research problem.

Assist in drafting project proposals, grant applications, and scientific manuscripts tied to your research.

Evaluate and explore emerging technologies applicable to the research area.

Foster and coordinate collaborations connected to your research project.

Support the laboratory’s operations and assist team members when needed.

Keep detailed and organized records of experiments, protocols, and both raw and analyzed data per lab standards.

Play a role in guiding and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Participate in outreach initiatives aimed at promoting scientific understanding.

Complete required training mandated by the University, Division, and Department. Qualifications Possess a PhD in information technologies, quantitative life sciences, or a closely related field.

Established track record of publications or evidence of scientific achievement appropriate for the career stage.

Strong experience with Python and MATLAB for analyzing high-throughput imaging data and sequencing datasets.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (in English, French an asset), with the ability to effectively communicate findings, provide constructive feedback and engage in scientific discussions within the team.

Meticulous organizational skills, ensuring precise record-keeping and a detail-oriented approach to tasks.

Proven ability to manage projects efficiently and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Demonstrated capacity to work independently, showing initiative and adaptability in dynamic, deadline-driven settings.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Experience in human experiment and human factors is an asset.

Experience in conducting industrial projects is an asset.
