Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clerical tasks and acts as a communication link for the unit.
• Performs tasks for the care and comfort of patients as well as routine domestic tasks to maintain preparedness and cleanliness of the area (approximately 10-90% dependent on occupancy and shift).

Qualifications

• Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant program or equivalent (Health Care Aide and Unit Clerk programs) required.
• Experience: Previous related work experience preferred.
• Certification/Licensure/Registration: Not Applicable

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge: PHIA, WHMIS, Principles of Routine Practices, site policies and procedures, RIS, EPR, MRI Safety; ability to operate computer and standard office equipment.
• Language: Excellent command of English (oral and written).
• Other: Basic keyboarding, medical terminology (75% pass), strong interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize, organize, and work as part of a team; ability to respond to simultaneous demands; understand emotional and psychosocial needs of children in hospital settings; willingness to pursue self-development opportunities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• May involve lifting, transferring and transporting patients and equipment.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. A security check is current if obtained no more than six (6) months prior to start. An employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions in Shared Health that combine to exceed 1.0 FTE.
