Database Administrator

Location 44 King Street W 10th Floor, Toronto, Ontario

Hybrid : 2 days in-office (will increase to 4 days in future)

Anchor days : Flexible

Contract Duration : 6 Months

Possibility of extension : Yes, based on performance and business needs

Schedule Hours : 9am-5pm Monday-Friday;standard 37.5 hrs / week

Project : The team is currently working on a large data base migration, upgrade and require additional assistance. The candidate will be working the full end to end cycle of the upgrade from Installation, back up and configuration.

Typical Day in Role :

• Implementing PostgreSQL database clusters with replication
• Manage database security / integrity and backup procedures
• Upgrade Database instances from lower versions to current versions.
• Assist with database design and development and tuning queries
• Independently manage MongoDB installations and configurations in Linux environments and cloud (GCP).
• Implement multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters across Linux platforms and MongoDB Atlas on GCP.
• Ensure database security with knowledge of audit, security, backup / recovery and encryption at rest.
• Tackle complex problems through conceptualization and reasoning.

Best vs. Average Candidate :

The ideal candidate would have experience with PostgreSQL, GCP AlloyDB, and MongoDB. They should also be competent working with Linux and GCP or another Cloud Platform. Previous experience with top 5 Banks is very nice to have.
