Peer Support Worker- Early Psychosis Intervention Program- Temporary Part Time
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary mental health team and will liaise with the diverse mental health programs within the hospital and community. The SAH Community Mental Health Programs include : Addictions Treatment Centre, Detoxification Centre, Transition House, Seniors Mental Health, Day Treatment Program, Community Treatment Orders, EPI Program, ACT Program, the Consumer Survivor Initiative and Crisis Services.
DUTIES
- Provide support to assigned client groups.
- Serve as a mentor to promote hope and empowerment.
- Assist clients in accessing skills to deal with and resolve social and personal problems.
- Coordinate with EPI team to address needs of supported clients; including referral to outside agencies.
- Member of the interdisciplinary teams of professionals working with client groups.
- Advocate for client groups in the community; lobbying for solutions to problems directly affecting client groups and developing prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs.
- Provide public education and consultation to professionals or groups regarding counseling services, issues and methods.
- Professional role model demonstrating good interpersonal skills and a commitment to self‑growth and development.
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate / Diploma in health or social service fieldWilling to share their personal experience and story of mental health and / or addictions issues.KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
Knowledge and experience navigating the mental health system.SKILLS & ABILITY
