Position Overview :
Teldon Media Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the financial operations of Teldon and its subsidiaries.
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, providing strategic insight through operational KPIs, preparing annual budgets, and cash forecasting. You will also manage compliance, foreign exchange contracts, and internal controls, while serving as a mentor and leader to the accounting team, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of balancing strategic oversight with hands-on involvement in the accounting function. You will play a key role in supporting the Executive Leadership Team, presenting monthly and annual results, and contributing to initiatives that drive business growth and financial stability.
This role is based onsite Monday to Friday at our Richmond, BC office. Candidates must be able to commute to our office or able to relocate in order to be considered.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare monthly and annual consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements, including review of related reports such as bank reconciliations, prepaid listings, accrual listings, intercompany balances, and foreign exchange activityPresent monthly financial packages to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), including operational KPIs and financial analysisProvide leadership and functional direction to accounting team members, including responsibility for payroll administration and hands-on support as requiredManage compliance with all applicable tax, regulatory, and governmental reporting requirements in both Canada and the U.S.Assist external accounting firms with annual year-end reviews, audits, and tax filingsProactively manage cash flow, including preparation of weekly liquidity reports and cash flow forecastsManage foreign exchange (FX) contractsPrepare corporate budgets and annual cash flow forecasts in collaboration with the ELTMonitor and strengthen internal controls, recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracyManage financial and operational risk by maintaining and safeguarding corporate documentation, including contracts, leases, financing agreements, FX, credit, and insurancePartner with the ELT on strategic initiatives and special projects as requiredRequired Experience and Skills :
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance and a recognized CPA or CFA designationMinimum two (2) years of experience in a Controller role, with proven management or supervisory experienceDemonstrated ability to provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentoring within an accounting environmentExperience working in a manufacturing environment is a strong assetDemonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and FX managementStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience developing operational metrics to improve business processesExperience working in an entrepreneurial or fast-growing environment is considered an assetStrong relationship building and business-partnering abilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and QuickBooks preferredPayroll certification (PCP or equivalent) is an assetStrong organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication and presentation skillsDemonstrated commitment to results, accountability, and continuous improvementCompensation : The salary range for this role is from $110,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience and skills.
