This is what you will do :
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is field based scientific expert that strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of Alexion’s product / s across the product / s life cycle. The MSL is a peer scientific expert who communicates accurate and applicable science to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within a geographic area, manages and maintains collegial and professional relationships with KOLs and identifies and facilitates collaboration opportunities with Alexion. The MSL combines strong business acumen and clinical expertise and serves as a peer-to-peer liaison internally and externally.
You will be responsible for :
- Develop and maintain peer to peer collaborations with key medical experts in the therapeutic area and adjacent specialties within the assigned region
- Identify and execute collaboration opportunities between expert KOLs in Hematology, Nephrology and Alexion medical affairs and clinical development such as publications, collaborative research, regional advisory boards, training and speaker development programs
- Serve as scientific peer to peer resource to Hematology and Nephrology disease experts.
- Educate the medical community with up to date medical and scientific information and exhibit robust disease expertise and product information.
- Drive the identification, development and alignment with Key Opinion Leaders, other important HCPs and stakeholders, including professional organizations.
- Communicate experts’ opinion, feedback on new data and clinical trends to Alexion Medical Affairs, therapeutic area (TA) franchises and translate this information into strategic recommendations to enhance science and advance patient care
- Support and implement the Brand and Affiliate Company Strategy to ensure that accurate and comprehensive scientific information concerning our products and therapeutic area is available to decision makers and healthcare provider
- Ensure that physician experts are fully trained on speaker presentations, all questions are accurately addressed, and references are provided upon request
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in the region, manage questions, liaise with headquarters to ensure proper response has been provided and ensure that data is fair and balanced
- Provide input into collaborative research objectives and serve as a champion for proposals submitted. Serve as point person and conduit for respective projects in conjunction with clinical operations, perform clinical study feasibility and support effective study implementation
- Deliver quality medical education presentations in a variety of settings and obtain valuable feedback that can be disseminated throughout the organization , Staff Meetings, Round Tables, Hospital Meeting activities Communicate and educate Alexion internal customers on local initiatives on disease and treatment guidelines in a timely manner
- Maintain compliance and act as a resource on all internal and external legal and regulatory guidelines
- Attend appropriate national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, assist personal education, ensuring to utilize these opportunities to develop relationships with important HCPs for the geographic area of confidence
- Ensure a close working relationship with all functions in country, including commercial operations, sales, and marketing teams
You will need to have :
PharmD, MD or PhD in biological sciencesStrong ability and experience to present complex scientific dataProven track record of relationship development in the industryWell established networks and active relationships with TA focused experts are highly preferredCandidate should have excellent communication skills (oral and written)Energetically embraces responsibilities, demonstrates ability to achieve goalsHas a strong personal initiative, and functions well as part of a cross functional teamExhibits excellent time management and able to work independentlyDemonstrates strong organizational skills and high-level job competenciesField-based role and travel within region is requiredRequired travel to medical meetings, team meetings and other group meetings (will require some weekends)Candidate is required to live within the territory with which he / she liaises.We would prefer for you to have :
Current experience in the therapeutic areas relating to recently launched and marketed biologics / therapies would be beneficialPrevious experience in a rare or ultrarare disease environment a distinct advantageFluent in English and French, both spoken and writtenIndustry experience or equivalent (>5 years) or MSL experience
