Regular Educational Assistant approx. 23 hours / week

Hours of work include - Monday Wednesday & Thursday 8 : 30 a.m. 3 : 15 p.m. and Friday 8 : 30 a.m.- 12 : 00p.m.

Dr. Hamman Elementary School is seeking an Educational Assistant to work in a grade one classroom to serve students with complex needs Monday Wednesday Thursdays 8 : 30-3 : 15 and Fridays 8 : 30-12 beginning on December 15th. The ideal candidate will have education and experience working in a primary classroom setting. A background in supporting students with Autism and Cognitive developmental delays would be an asset.

An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division :

• Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
• Maintains confidentialityand a patient supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
• As required provides personal care including toileting diapering feeding dressing grooming etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting positioning and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community which includes maintaining close supervision of students ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment calming and / or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e. scissors cooking utensils etc.).
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students learning team.
