About the Role :

As a Principal Research Analyst within McCloskey by OPIS, you will initially focus on green hydrogen production dynamics, costs, and demand in the North American market. Similar analysis for the European markets will follow in due course. You will also create Thought Leadership content around the Hydrogen market. You will partner with our industry-leading journalists and price reporters across all OPIS customer segments. This is a mid-level position within the global research team and you will report directly to the Global Head of Research.

You Will :

  • Maintain monthly and quarterly deliverables covering Hydrogen products
  • Analyze parts of the North American electricity market relevant to hydrogen, including PPA pricing, settlement costs, regional basis, and project setup
  • Maintain monthly hydrogen supply and demand balance sheets and price forecasts
  • Work with the Global Head of steel research on steelmaking using hydrogen-DRI and its role in the development of green steel
  • Publish periodic research pieces on topical industry issues (eg. regulatory / policy developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipeline, ESG)
  • Maintain strong client and industry relationships – ideally bringing these relationships from prior roles
  • Continually share and source market intelligence
  • Lead and participate in bespoke consulting engagements
  • Engage actively in business development, assisting OPIS' account managers in the sales process through maintaining sales pipelines and assisting in the sales process
  • Be a public face of McCloskey and OPIS in the Hydrogen space at client / stakeholder engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, content marketing

You Have :

  • 7 to 10 years' experience in hydrogen and / or other related energy markets
  • Experience presenting and leading public discussions (eg. moderating panels at conferences)
  • Managed others while maintaining personal output
  • Experience performing quantitative analysis with the use of Excel, PowerBI, and VBA
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, PowerBI (preferred)
  • Bachelor degree in a quantitative discipline (preferred)
