Introduction
Established in November 2022, the National Maritime Group (NMG) represents nearly 100 private sector maritime employers and operators from coast to coast, including the St. Lawrence region. NMG’s associations, marine terminals and carriers play a crucial role in moving essential goods and providing well-paying, family-supporting jobs across 14 Canadian ports in five provinces. This forward-thinking organization is a collaborative partnership between the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA), Maritime Employers Association (MEA), Halifax Employers Association (HEA), and the Port of Saint John Employers Association (PSJEA).
The NMG advocates for the maritime industry's interests, promoting safe and sustainable practices while enhancing the sector's economic contributions in Canada. Private sector maritime employers in Canada are vital to the national supply chain and economic prosperity. As the organization continues to grow, it seeks strong leadership to maintain momentum and navigate opportunities and challenges such as technological advancements and regulatory changes. Effective leadership will foster innovation and strategic partnerships, ensuring ongoing growth and reinforcing Canada’s role in global trade.
Summary of the role
Working with the Steering Committee Leadership, and supported by the Secretariat, the Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for maintaining NMG’s growth and influence in the federal political landscape through the day-to-day operations of the group. The three main areas of focus will be operations, communication, and policy development & implementation.
