As a Senior Platform Engineer, you play a critical role in designing, operating, and continuously improving the shared platforms that underpin Cooke’s core systems and services.

The Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you lead the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of shared technology platforms. You own complex system issues end-to-end, design and optimize platform solutions within approved architectural standards, and enable other teams to consume platforms effectively. You also provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and contribute to platform standards, governance, and roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across shared platforms including infrastructure, cloud services, and foundational tooling.
• Design, implement, and optimize platform solutions within approved architectural standards to ensure reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
• Own the operational lifecycle of shared platforms including patching, upgrades, capacity planning, and technology refresh activities.
• Implement and maintain high-availability, disaster recovery, security, and resilience patterns aligned with business continuity requirements.
• Define and continuously improve platform standards, operational procedures, and reusable patterns.
• Partner with enterprise and solution architects to refine standards and reference architectures.
• Evaluate new platform technologies and recommend adoption aligned with enterprise architecture direction.
• Provide technical leadership during projects, system changes, integrations, and acquisitions.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and promote engineering excellence.
• Represent the platform domain in governance, change approval boards, and roadmap discussions.

Experience & Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Computer Systems, IT, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5–8+ years of experience in platform or infrastructure engineering roles.
• Proven experience leading complex troubleshooting, upgrades, and availability planning.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization, cloud platforms, identity, backup/DR, and HA design.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware, Microsoft) are considered an asset.
