Your role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Power and Recovery Manager is responsible for the overall Safety, Leadership, and Operation of the Power and Recovery area at the Kamloops, B.C. pulp mill. This role also encompasses the Regulatory duties of Chief Power Engineer, responsible and accountable under the Power Engineers, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Refrigeration Safety Regulation to ensure the operation and maintenance of all equipment covered by the Regulation remains in conformance.

Your Responsibilities

• Responsible for the integrity of the work processes and practices within the Power & Recovery Business System (Chief Power engineer for site)
• Provides trained personnel, as it relates to job duties, departmental testing activities, and awareness of the responsibilities, authorities, and interrelationships of position-related personnel who manage, perform, and verify work affecting the environment and quality
• Supervises the Shift Engineers and Superintendents in the Power & Recovery area
• Co-ordinates with Power & Recovery personnel to ensure that the Quality and Environmental Management Systems are understood, implemented, continuously monitored and improved
• Responsible for the Power & Recovery Quality and Environmental Management Systems assuring compliance to the ISO standards
• Oversees Corrective and Preventive Action procedures
• Keeps abreast of new and changing technologies and equipment for Power and Recovery area
• Responsible for ensuring a commitment to continuous improvement and the prevention of pollution
• Promote and support an everyday safety first culture
• Has authority to initiate mill or mill area shutdown or slowdown based on environmental emergency or compliance issues
• Utilizes the MOC process as required
