Interested staff members are required to complete the following on-line application to the attention of : The Recruitment Team. These temporary positions are effective immediately and ending on or about June 30, 2025 and are due to leaves.

This position is responsible for providing technical support to all school staff and students in the configuration, use and connectivity of board provisioned, personal and network technologies in compliance with Board policies and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • To assist with the testing, deployment, enhancement and ongoing operational support of Board instructional and productivity computing devices, network and cloud based services.
  • To troubleshoot, research and solve problems related to Board instructional and productivity computing devices, network and cloud based service. To perform routine preventative maintenance and technology audits on multiple hardware computing platforms contained.
  • To configure, install, upgrade and maintain multiple versions of software solutions on multiple hardware computing platforms using industry standard development tools.
  • To monitor network connectivity and report deficiencies, security, stability and inappropriate use to Information Technology Services support staff.
  • To assist with the ongoing backup, recovery of staff and student information maintained on local storage devices.
  • To assist with the relocation and setup of computer equipment and maintain accurate records of school electronic inventories and asset labeling using the Board Enterprise Help Desk System. Decommission, repurpose and recycle identified electronic equipment using the Board’s approved electronic waste partners.
  • To record, analyze, prioritize, escalate, update and track all incoming technical service requests and incidents reported via verbal, paper, email, web and voice integrated tools to the Board Enterprise Help Desk System.
  • To provide support for issues related to student and teacher accounts.
  • To monitor all unacknowledged / unresolved calls and escalate appropriately as defined by ITS support procedures. Respond to assigned service requests within predetermined service window
  • To consult with school and board staff on technology based decisions.
  • To assist the school in the relocation of computer equipment and peripherals.
  • To provide preventative maintenance of school based computer & network technology and peripherals.
  • To work as an active member of the school team.
  • To attend meetings as required.
  • To attend professional development sessions / training as required.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.

Line of Responsibility :

Responsible to the Assistant Manager, Support Operations .

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma with two years of post-secondary education in computer related studies is required.
  • Minimum two years related experience is required.
  • An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft’s Networking and productivity solutions is required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • A thorough working knowledge of industry standard computing technologies including communications network protocols, hardware, computer operations and Board approved / implemented software and hardware are required.
  • Ability to explain features and functions of deployed technology to all levels of users is required.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to own transportation.
  • Requirements in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position may include shift work / after hours support.

    Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members :

    As per the Collective Agreement (A.11.7 and A.11.8), those twelve month employees filling vacancies as a result of a job posting are to remain twelve months at their positions. Ten month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year.
