Job Title : Controls Engineer Job Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain and support the production lines while directing Maintenance personnel. This involves PLC and robot programming and troubleshooting, manufacturing process improvements, and mechanical improvements to tooling and equipment, ensuring conformance to customer requirements. You must have programming experience with Allen Bradley & Siemens PLCs, and FANUC robots.

Responsibilities

• Support production to ensure all equipment functions and systems are fully operational, including troubleshooting equipment and systems to identify and fix the root cause of issues.
• Program and troubleshoot I / O blocks, sensors, vision systems, barcode readers, Allen-Bradley & Siemens PLCs / HMIs, servos & servo drives, and Fanuc robots.
• Configure, program, and troubleshoot electronic assembly tools and controllers.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical and management aspects of assigned projects with maintenance staff and outside vendors.
• Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes.
• Analyze manufacturing process flows continually to enhance safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
• Identify and analyze gaps in manufacturing processes and develop contingency plans for equipment or system failures.
• Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, new products, and related fixtures / tooling, consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
• Assist in the preparation of Engineering project proposals.
• Procure equipment and tooling essential for the effective operation of the department.
• Develop RFQ, vendor selection, requisition development, and invoice reconciliation.
• Ensure effective Engineering communications.

Work Environment

The position is ideally for a midnight shift; however, if necessary, it can switch to a rotating shift between days (7 : 00am - 3 : 00pm) and afternoons (3 : 30pm - 11 : 30pm) on a 2-week rotation. The role is part of a team with 2 Engineers per shift. Flexibility to work midnight shifts is required as needed. Overtime is paid after 40 hours, with double time on Sundays and Holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Windsor, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $46.00 / hr.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Windsor,ON.
