Salary : $57,216 to $92,616 per year

Qualifications :

  • Must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse;
  • Eligibility for registration for CLPNA, CPRNA, or CARNA;
  • Minimum one (1) year continuing care clinical experience in a health care facility;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Willingness to travel.

Successful candidate must provide college or university transcripts and criminal record check to Human Resources prior to commencement.

This position is covered under the Collective Agreement between Northern Lakes College and the Faculty Association of Northern Lakes College.

Position Description

Title : Instructor, Health Programs – Health Care Aide

Major Job Function :

The key responsibilities include : instruction in lab, classroom and workplace settings, assessing prior learning, tutoring, student recruitment and advising, record keeping and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • provide individual and group instruction in classroom, laboratory and workplace settings
  • become knowledgeable of Health Care Aide Program and program expectations
  • use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies, including educational technology if required, which are appropriate for adult learners
  • provide students with accurate and timely information regarding courses and program
  • ensure that students are familiar with the content of the student handbook
  • establish and maintain a classroom / laboratory environment conducive to learning; maintain an inventory of supplies and materials;
  • provide opportunities for students' evaluation of instruction; make adjustments as needed in response to student feedback
  • provide access to educational resources
  • build a mutually comfortable working relationship with students; advocate on behalf of students
  • demonstrate a respect for individual differences
  • meet / communicate with each student on a regular basis
  • encourage peer support activities
  • monitor student attendance and progress; identify and assist students experiencing difficulties; use probationary / performance contracts as required; make probation and termination recommendations
  • organize / facilitate student orientation to the college and program
  • ensure exam security, co-ordinate exam schedule and organize / supervise exams as required
  • co-ordinate administration of course, program and College evaluation forms, withdrawals and registrations
  • liaise with student sponsors / employers
  • assist in promoting college programs : project a positive image of the college; maintain and encourage good public relations; display a client service attitude; identify and participate in promotional activities; assist with the development of promotional materials and activities; identify and share promotional ideas
  • maintain confidentiality of information; act in accordance with FOIP regulations
  • adhere to College and program policies, procedures and guidelines
  • participate in professional development; annually identify learning goals and provide evidence of progress toward achieving goals
