We currently have an exciting opportunity for a licensed Electrician as a Maintenance Technician ! This role will be based out the Fabrication facility located in Mississauga, ON.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and will focus on performing highly diverse electrical and mechanical duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and legislated standards to support the achievement of business goals. The incumbent will work a 12-hour continental night shift schedule (8pm - 8am, 7 shifts bi-weekly).

Salary Range : $43 - 48 / hour

Key Accountabilities :

  • Plan and layout work assignments from complex blueprints, sketches, or verbal instruction and accomplish these assignments with the maximum efficiency.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
  • Capable of inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing plant machinery, tooling, molds, equipment, systems, buildings, and physical structures.
  • Competently and safely use all tools and operate all machine tools such as lathes and grinders for the efficient overhaul, maintenance or set-up of Company property.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
  • Know and keep familiar all national, provincial, and local codes as they affect repair and maintenance, safety, construction and dismantling of machinery, equipment, and structures.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.
  • Work with other classifications of employees in emergency situations, in plant shutdown periods, and in times when machinery is not operating and perform any duties necessary to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time.
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Canadian certification as an Electrician is required (309A, 442A or Red Seal)
  • Dual-ticket certification (Electrician and Industrial Mechanic / Millwright) is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and machine maintenance
  • Able to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical issues using sound problem solving techniques and good judgment based on previous practices and precedence
  • Sound technical and mechanical aptitude coupled with knowledge on how machines work
  • Able to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and adhere to instructions diligently
  • Works well in teams and self-motivated to work independently
  • Eager to learn and adapt quickly
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary.

  • Working Conditions

    Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in a plant environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labour. Lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects, standing and walking cover majority of work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades and presses. High amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stresses to this position. The incumbent understands, respects and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations.
