Clinical Psychologist
Unit Summary
The McMaster Children’s Hospital Autism Program is an ambulatory service for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
It is comprised of MCCSS-funded services, including the Ontario Autism Program, as well as other ambulatory services for children and youth up to the age of 18 with a confirmed diagnosis of ASD.
These services have strong links to McMaster University’s Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, the McMaster Autism Research Team (MacART), and the Offord Centre for Child Studies.

Position Summary
As part of an interdisciplinary team, the Psychologist will provide direct clinical service involving consultation, assessment, and evidence-based mental health intervention to children and youth with ASD and their families.
The Psychologist will ensure clinical services implemented are in accordance with regulations of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the guidelines established by Ministry funders.
The Psychologist will provide supervision of staff, including a psychometrist, and other learners, including involvement in the Hamilton Health Sciences accredited Psychology internship program.
The Psychologist will be involved in research, program evaluation, program development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days and evenings (flexibility in working hours may be required, with the possibility of occasional Saturdays).
Qualifications
1. PhD in Clinical Psychology, preferably with a specialization in children, adolescents, and families.
2. Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario; must be authorized to work with children and adolescents (those with authorization to also work with families preferred).
3. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the provision of evidence-based modalities (ideally, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing) within a pediatric mental health population.
4. Extensive knowledge and experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of neurodevelopmental and complex mental health disorders in children and adolescents.
5. Demonstrated competency and experience in the administration and interpretation of psychological tests, particularly those tests relevant to the assessment of cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning.
6. Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and the Child, Youth, and Family Services Act.
7. Demonstrated strength in consultation, teaching, inter-professional collaboration, and supervision of advanced learners.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication alongside strong interpersonal skills.
11. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning.
12. Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
