Overview:

The Family Office of Wittington Investments Limited is responsible for the accounting tax investment and administrative functions for a prominent Canadian family. The Accountant position will be responsible for full cycle of accounting for their assigned entities including budgeting analyzing and reporting reconciling and corporate tax filing. This position reports to the Senior Director Client Advisory of the Family Office.

Responsibilities:

Treasury and cash management

Prepare tax payment requests and coordinate with bank for corporate entities and family members

Develop relationship with bank and coordinate banking requirements

Bookkeeping Financial Statement and other Financial Reports

• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation record month-end journal entries and perform other monthly general ledger reconciliations in SAP.
• Preparation of investment activity schedule calculate realized/unrealized foreign exchange and reconcile investment book value to broker statements.
• Monthly financial backup duties and maintain strong record keeping.
• Review Notice of Assessment from CRA and book tax related journal entries.
• Preparation of year-end reconciliation working papers and T2 corporate tax returns.
• Calculation and/or maintenance of adjusted cost base for marketable securities.
• Assist with ad hoc requests from Family Office clients.

Taxes

• Preparation of personal corporate and trust tax returns with year-end reconciliation working papers
• Gather supporting tax information for internal and external tax teams
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory filing and tax filings
• Review Notice of Assessment from CRA and tax related journal entries

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Accounting Tax or Finance including a Canadian Tax Course at the Post-Secondary Level
• Completed or pursuing a professional accounting designation.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting/finance experience
• Experience with the full cycle of accounting financial analysis and exposure to either Personal or Corporate tax
• Strong time management skills with experience/exposure to managing tight deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications with MS Excel being essential
• Professional and discrete demeanor
• Self-starter self-directed performance and results driven
• Accepts ownership and accountability and possesses a high level of integrity
• Team player with a positive can do attitude to objectives and challenges
• Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure in a fast-paced high-volume environment
• Demonstrates a team-oriented attitude and works well with and through others

• Experience with SAP BBD Quickbooks and/or SharePoint an asset
