Venor is partnered with Eassons Transportation Group, a respected leader in the trucking industry, in search of a General Manager.

Headquartered in Kentville, Eassons has terminals in Kentville and Sydney in NS; Albany, PEI; Moncton, NB; Mount Pearl, NL; and Belleville and Mississauga, ON. Eassons operates over 300 trucks and employs over 500 people. Their mission is ‘delivering value to our customer and employee partners all day every day.’

As General Manager, you are responsible for growing the business, optimizing processes, enhancing efficiency, and developing staff.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Strategic Leadership :

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Identify new market opportunities and expand the customer base to increase revenue and market share.
  • Lead and inspire a diverse team of employees, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence :

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Optimize fleet management, route planning, and scheduling to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Financial Management :

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to monitor and analyze business performance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors, and manage expenses to improve profitability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve financial targets.
  • Customer Relations :

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication, resolve customer issues and complaints effectively, and exceed service expectations.
  • Develop and implement customer retention strategies to increase loyalty and repeat business.
  • Team Development :

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of managers, drivers, and support staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to empower employees and promote professional growth.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, recognizing and rewarding achievements, and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  • As the ideal candidate, you have post-secondary education in Business, Operations Management, or a related field. You bring a dynamic blend of managerial prowess, strategic vision, and strong problem-solving skills to the table. You have extensive experience in strategic business planning, logistics operations, and budgeting and forecasting. You have a proven track record of driving operational excellence, profitability, and growth. A skilled people leader, you have proven experience coaching and training employees to enhance their skills and performance. Your familiarity with the expectations of the transportation and logistics industry and prior experience as a General Manager or a similar role will be highly valued.
