Summary

The Technician Trainee (TT) role is a developmental position intended to familiarize a new employee with the Technician role while working as a Service Employee and is enrolled in Ryder\'s 18 month Technical Training Developmental Program. The incumbent will be assigned to a mentor and receive hands-on experience and knowledge in a professional shop environment. The TT will be evaluated on technical aptitude, work ethic, and culture fit, with the potential to progress to Technician I or Technician II. The TT must fulfill all assigned responsibilities and technician training weekly, as guided by the location mentor. The TT must remain in good standing with employment during the program. Upon completion, the TT will be prepared for technician level opportunities within the company, in line with Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or delivery to rental shop. Wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment. Fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles properly while adhering to shop safety policies. Record fuel activity and maintain inventories and reconciliation. Use hand-held devices to identify customer and required services. Perform multi-point inspections on inbound units as required by company policies and procedures, including tire checks, fluid levels, lights, window washing, tire changes, refrigeration unit inspection, and reporting issues. Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and perform general facility maintenance.
• Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments, including hands-on and online training; program components include Service Island Training, Technician I Training, and Technician II Training topics related to maintenance and HD electrical systems.

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills
• Must have track record of performance and good attendance
• Strong sense of personal accountability and a proven record of achieving results
• Ability to professionally represent Ryder and engage both Ryder employees and customers

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma/GED preferred
• 0 to One (1) year related work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, location, and internal equity. The position may be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan. Compensation ranges for the position are below:

Pay Type: Hourly

Minimum Pay Range: $20.00

Maximum Pay Range: $20.00
