Community Support Worker Winter Warming (EDM)

The Community Support Worker will participate in programs that are essential to the alleviation of poverty and homelessness and build healthy relationships between stakeholders volunteers guests in The Mustard Seeds diverse community.

Reporting to the Community Impact Centre Manager this position is responsible for implementation of the programs and services at Community Impact Centre. This role helps community participants in accessing programs and services at the centre assists in front desk duties as well as maintain a safe and welcoming environment for staff participants and volunteers. This role will support other Community Impact Centre programs in Edmonton as needed.

Employment Type : Temporary Part-time (December to March 31 2026) (Relief Part-time and Full-time available)

Schedule 1 : Strathcona CIC - Monday to Friday between 8 : 00 a.m. to 7 : 00 p.m. (hours will be determined)

Schedule 2 : Canora CIC - Monday to Friday 8 : 00 a.m. to 8 : 00 p.m.; Saturday to Sunday 9 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.(hours will be determined)

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Front line Duties :

• Greet and welcome community members visitors and other stakeholders into our Centre; sign in guests in our information database and conduct intakes and program evaluation with guests;
• Create a safe healthy and respectful environment for all community participants staff volunteers and visitors accessing our services and programs;
• Provide non-violent crisis intervention and use de-escalation techniques as required with a proactive approach;
• Foster meaningful relationships with community members volunteers coworkers supervisors and other stakeholders;
• Ensure daily tidiness and cleanliness of the work area in addition to participating in daily sanitization of high touch areas;
• Assist in emergency situations as required;
• As needed advocate for guests accessing site within the organization and with other agencies and partners as required working in a collaborative manor.
