What to expect :

The summer student will be working in the capacity of Education Program Coordinator with CWB Welding Foundation and supports the Program Manager for all related program needs, including but not limited to, CWB Welding Foundation programs.

Projects will include development and implementation of programs that increase the awareness and education of welding to encourage more individuals to explore careers in welding and other skilled trades. Program focus on reducing barriers to participation to all, in particular under-represented groups such as women, Indigenous people, racialized, persons with disabilities, LGTBQ+ communities and others.

This position will primarily work from your home office, with travel to events and conferences at host organizations. This position may be required to work evenings and / or weekends to support community engagement and events as required.

This includes : Program Planning

  • Coordinates and disseminates all internal and external materials related to program planning to host organization
  • Liaises with host organization as required to collect all signed documentation prior to commencement of program.
  • Liaises with other CWBWF staff to support planning of programs.
  • Responds to program inquiries received.
  • Assists with program marketing and promotion activities.
  • Research events and activities in defined region to identify possible opportunities to deliver CWBWF programs and make recommendations to Program Manager.
  • Entry of program data in a variety of databases using CRM and Microsoft Office suite. Ensures that all data is up to date and accurate for each program.

Program Delivery

  • Acts as CWBWF representative contact during program delivery and events.
  • Liaises with member(s) of host organization to coordinate arrangements for programs at each location.
  • Oversees program delivery at each program location, supporting host organizations, as needed.
  • Coordinates and disseminates all internal and external materials related to program delivery.
  • Prepares program packages (i.e swag) required for each program and prepares package for shipping to identified host organization in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates activities to support delivery of camps and programs.
  • Photographs camp activities for promotion purposes. Work with Communications Officer to ensure photos are provided when required.
  • Acts as liaison between host organization and CWBWF staff during program delivery
  • Program Evaluation and Reporting

  • Compiles program statistics based upon program evaluations and reports to Program Manager and makes recommendations for quality improvement.
  • Completes program / event reports for Program Manager upon completion of program or event. Debriefs CWBWF team as required on programs and events.
  • Completes travel expenditures and submits to Program Manager for approval in a timely manner.
  • Regularly maintains database of program information (i.e., participants, locations, etc.)
  • In this position, you will report to the Program Manager and will work out of their home office, travel will be required from time to time. CWB has adopted a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person.     What you bring to the table :

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Post -Secondary Education in welding, welding technology or a related field
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong organizational and time management
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Not-for-profit, customer service, business administration to include not-for- profit, accounting, advancement services, digital and database
  • Proficient at using Microsoft Office / Teams, including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy of work
  • Travel is required
  • Ability to work evenings and / or weekends
  • The following qualifications are considered assets :

  • 1 year customer service experience, plus project management experience or knowledge
  • Bilingualism in English and French
  • Project management experience or related courses
  • Experience in database management systems
  • Knowledge of skilled trades, including apprenticeship
