Program : LPN Nursing

Number of Hours Bi-Weekly : 45

Work Schedule : Days, Evenings, Weekends

Portability of Seniority as per NSNU Agreement Requisition Details : This is a Flex Position. Nurses will not be given an individual rotation indicating regular days of work. Nurses will be scheduled monthly and will receive schedules reflecting their FTE four (4) weeks in advance. With VON you get to hit the open road, where the scenery and work are different every day. Responsibilities :

  • Provide and manage high quality, appropriate and cost effective nursing care to all individuals and / or families in the community who are assigned to their care
  • Responsible to teach and delegate tasks and functions to different levels of workers and to family members and others in accordance with the standards and scope of practice as determined by VON and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • Comply with all standards, policies, procedures and legislative requirements
  • Participate as a member of the health care team in relevant committees and working groups

    • Qualifications :

  • Registration with CNNS and a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Mental Health and addictions experience is considered an asset
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Emergency room experience is an asset
  • Can effectively use software for client documents, word processing & communication
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated effective use of problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple activities
  • Ability to thrive in an exceptionally fast-paced environment
  • Must have personal vehicle and possess both a current driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance
  • A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required upon the start of your employment
  • A vulnerable Sector Search and / or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Working conditions and physical demands : This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
