Position : Business System Analyst

Location : Calgary AB

Key Responsibilities :

• Gather, analyze, and document complex business and technical requirements for integration, modernization, and data-driven initiatives.
• Perform advanced SQL querying to support data analysis, validation, profiling, reconciliation, and root-cause investigation across multiple systems.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries including joins, subqueries, window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and performance‑tuned scripts.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and data quality issues; present insights to business and technology teams.
• Support ETL / API integration design by creating detailed data mapping, transformation logic, and field-level specifications using SQL-derived insights.
• Validate integration results and system behavior through SQL-based testing, including pre‑ and post‑deployment data verification.
• Work closely with data engineering and development teams to define source-to-target mappings, schema structures, and transformation rules.
• Create data flow diagrams, process maps, sequence diagrams, and system context documentation for integration and modernization projects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies; own backlog refinement, story detailing, acceptance criteria, and functional sign-offs.
• Collaborate with QA teams to design SQL-based test cases, support functional / UAT testing, and lead defect triage activities.
• Maintain end‑to‑end traceability from requirements to data logic to test outcomes using SQL as a primary validation tool.
• Partner with architects to define modernized workflows, integration patterns, and scalable data architecture components.
• Ensure adherence to data governance, security policies, audit controls, and compliance requirements using SQL-driven checks.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors for integration specifications, delivery alignment, and issue resolution.
• Prepare documentation such as BRDs, FRDs, mapping sheets, API specs, and operational runbooks with SQL-backed evidence.
• Support release cycles, including SQL-based validation, cutover readiness, and post‑deployment data checks.
• Identify opportunities for process automation, data optimization, and system modernization supported by SQL analytical findings.
