Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor Municipal Enforcement, the Community Peace Officer Level I is responsible for enforcing provincial statutes and municipal bylaws for the City of Fort Saskatchewan and investigating inquiries and public complaints including animal control.

Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of a two (2) year Law Enforcement College Diploma or University Degree in a related field or equivalent experience within the law enforcement field. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in Alberta legislation and municipal laws; Justice System proceedings; and be eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer Level 1 by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in Municipal Enforcement or related field is required. Candidates must possess and retain an RCMP enhanced reliability security check; be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Current Radar / LIDAR certification; certification through the Law Enforcement Bicycle Association; knowledge of RCMP protocols and systems; and enhanced authorities granted by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General are considered assets. The successful candidates must have passed a physical fitness (PARE) test current within the last 6 months. A valid Alberta driver’s license is required, and the candidate must be available to work various shifts.
This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will be required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract at time of interview.
Hours of Work : Varying shifts - days, nights, and weekends
