Target Compensation : $24.75 Per Hour.
Regular Work Hours :
- FIRST JOB : 7.5 work hours per day, 5 days per week from 8 am to 4 pm, not including 30 minute unpaid lunch break and two 15 minute breaks, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).
SECOND JOB : 7.5 work hours per day, 3 days per week from 8 am to 4 pm, not including 30 minute unpaid lunch break and two 15 minute breaks, to be worked between Monday and Friday (22.5 hours per week).
Work Location : 100% onsite at client's north Toronto facility, near TTC stop.
Ergonomic Requirements : In addition to regular desk work, position will require light lifting, bending, crouching and overhead reaching, extended standing, walking across floors and between buildings, and other ergonomic activities associated with handling and shelving books, journals, and other hard copy library and archival materials, some of which may be old or dusty.
Responsibilities Summary :
To provide general library support including circulation, shelving, retrieving and mailing out library materials, and receiving and processing incoming library mail.
Perform circulation duties, including check-in and check-out, using the SYMPHONY integrated library system.Support library acquisitions, collection management, and library administration.Label and process physical library material, adding copies in the ILS.Stack management, including shelving and preparing signs for library collections.Prepare surplus library materials for disposal by creating and circulating lists of surplus material; send surplus library material to requesting libraries, and boxes remaining surplus library material for disposal.Prepare library materials for binding by creating and maintaining binding lists of designated library materials; checking quality control when items are received and routing the materials to appropriate departments to ensure cataloguing / processing.Prepare material for digitization and digitize selected material.Provide general library support including shelving, retrieving and processing library mail, photocopying, and mailing out library material.Additional library technician responsibilities as required.
Qualifications :
Education : Completion of at least 2+ years of an approved post-secondary education in library or information science.
Required Work Experience : At least 6+ months of recent, continuous experience in shelving library materials within the last 3 years.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements :
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (will be tested).Strong data entry skills (will be tested).Familiarity with SYMPHONY, HORIZON, Innovative Interfaces, or Ex Libris integrated library systems, including Circulation and Serials Control functions. Work experience in SYMPHONY ILS an asset.Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including satisfactory business writing skills and professional telephone manners.
