(CAN) Pharmacy Assistant

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties to support patient care. The Pharmacy Assistant participates in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations as a team member and contributes to delivering superior customer service.

What you'll do

• Receiving prescriptions from patients, assessing for completeness (Name, Address, DOB, Allergies, 3rd Party Information, Any Special Requests, Prescriber, Generic / Brand) and prioritizing prescriptions following 21st Century Guidelines.
• Performing computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist (data entry, price checks, patient information updates, handling prescribed items, refills, report generation, and patient profile checks).
• Filling prescriptions under the Pharmacist’s supervision, selecting appropriate products, conducting the accuracy program (including 7-point, visual and DIN checks), labeling, organizing for pharmacist checking, and handling verbal refills where authorized.
• Maintaining inventory control, assisting with stock management, pulling expired medications monthly, organizing returns, placing orders with preferred wholesalers, operating equipment, pricing, stocking shelves, and maintaining knowledge of key brands / generics.
• General housekeeping, stocking supplies, keeping the dispensary clean and organized, maintaining a safe work environment, and cleaning packaging and dispensing equipment and related office equipment.
• Clerical organization, filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, correspondence and completing administrative support tasks as assigned.
• Assisting with OTC operations, ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned by the OTC Manager and / or Pharmacist.

The pay range for this position is $20.15 - $26.42 / hr. Rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
