Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. About this role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-time  Associate Director, Process Management - Logistics  to join our dynamic Process Management  team. The work of an Associate Director, Process Management is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.

The Associate Director, Process Management serves as the central design authority for all processes, standards and procedures that occur within their designated area of the CBS integrated supply chain. They are a change agent responsible for the pursuit of an integrated, well-defined, process-based Logistics system and the implementation of a process management approach which will assist CBS in achieving operational standardization and excellence.

As the leader of their process management team, the Associate Director, Process Management is responsible for defining the requirements for enabling technology and assets, as well as required workforce skills / technical training. In this role, the Associate Director is responsible for developing plans to implement process changes and for ensuring consistent understanding of the defined processes across their functional area of responsibility.

The incumbent is responsible for closely liaising with the Quality and Regulatory Affairs (QRA) organization to ensure that the defined processes are in agreement with the quality requirements set by the QRA organization. Additionally, they are responsible for closely liaising with the regional integrated supply chain leads to communicate defined processes, and to identify opportunities for process improvement.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your expertise in Process Design, design domain specific processes, standards and procedures that occur within CBS’ integrated supply chain processes. Ensure that the designed processes are accurate, representative of industry best practices and are both efficient and effective.
  • Using your superior strategy creation skills. lead and maintains the process roadmap for their functional area. Liaise with the integrated supply chain leadership to gather input and to ensure its integration with other supply chain plans.
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement approach, lead a centre of excellence for process management and facilitate the dissemination of better practices across the regions.
  • Harnessing your organization skills, ensure effective ownership of process documentation by ensuring that all process documentation is current and centrally located.
  • Building an understanding of process maturity, provide data to drive process improvement priorities.
  • Drawing on your collaboration skills. liaise with the regional teams to ensure efficient and effective implementation of processes and identification of continuous improvement opportunities. Additionally, closely liaise with your peer Associate Directors in Process Management to align supply chain strategies.
  • Using your expertise in Training and development establish clear training expectations / matrices for key supply chain functions. Provide leadership to individuals tasked with developing training plans for supply chain change. Establish a robust talent review process for key supply chain roles and identified development opportunities as applicable.
  • Driving change as a leader, ensure that change emanating from the integrated supply chain is delivered in a way to maximize the success of adoption in operations and minimize any negative consequences on performance. Establish mechanisms to assess the readiness of operations to receive change and as required responds to signals of reduced preparedness.
  • Desired Education & Skills

  • Completion of an undergraduate university degree
  • Training / certification in process management concepts
  • Training in the concepts of Lean Manufacturing / Toyota Production System is an asset
  • 10 years of progressive experience at the leadership level
  • Proven and progressive experience in the field of Logistics / Warehouse process development
  • Experience in a Health Canada regulated biologics manufacturing industry is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical process control principles
