Domtar – Tanguay Operator Position

Location : Port Mellon, British Columbia, Canada. Position : full‑time permanent.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre‑job equipment inspection.
- Safely operate Tanguay loader.
- Load logs onto infeed deck.
- Work with utility men and splitter operator to process oversize logs.
- Daily maintenance of machine : grease joints, check for cracks, replace or assist in replacement of hydraulic hoses.
- Assist in breaking open bundles and log sorting.
- Remove bundle wire ropes and stack appropriately.
- Clear log deck and conveyor jam ups.
- General housekeeping in the plant : keep work area clean and free of debris.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum 1 year experience working in a chip plant and operating a Tanguay loader.Valid driver’s license highly preferred.Valid first aid level 3 certificate or willingness to complete the course.Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as Tanguay loader, forklifts, telehandlers and scissor lifts.Knowledge of different log species.Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.Compensation
Hourly rate : $40.46.
