Job Description :

Provide strategic decision support and financial guidance to the Controller of the Business Unit (BU) and their management team, Create and maintain a strong control environment while ensuring full transparency through analyses and recommendations. Drive process improvements, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders; maintain accounting and financial compliance of the BU.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Contribute to the overall business strategy of the BU. Actively participate in the strategic, operational, and tactical activities of the BU.
  • Active member of the BU Management Team and the Divisional Controller’s team.
  • Conduct financial analyses and participate in management decisions to achieve business objectives.
  • Assist the Controller for the integrity of the BU financial statements, forecasts, budgets, internal and external audits.
  • Create full financial transparency to all stakeholders and recommend appropriate courses of action when results differ from plan.
  • Assist the Controller to Ensure controls are in place to safeguard the company’s assets.
  • Assist the Controller to Lead, manage, and execute the financial planning & budgeting processes of the BU.
  • Ensure BU compliance to accounting and financial policies (IFRS, A / R, Inventory, Capital Expenditures controlling and monitoring).
  • Educate BU Management & Staff on financial processes / policies and the financial impact of business & operational decisions. Drive process improvements.
  • Understand the business, operations, key drivers, and success factors.
  • Focus on cost controlling & reduction initiatives and ensure that unfavourable variances are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Controller to and team in working capital and cash flow management.
  • Assist in special projects or assignments in the BU, Division, or Corporate Office as requested.
  • Education and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration – finance or an equivalent combination of studies and experience.
  • Accounting designation required (CA, CGA, CMA, or CPA). MBA is an asset.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
  • Experience in Manufacturing / Construction industries or in a similar role is an asset.
