On behalf of our client in the Utilities Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Business Analyst.

Business Analyst - Job Description

  • The Contractor, Business Analyst is accountable for collaboration with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, review and understand design and technical specifications, coordinate complete end-end testing over the course of IT Projects.
  • The Contractor must possess a deep understanding of electrical systems, strong communication skills, and proficiency in relevant network modelling software tools.
  • The ideal candidate will also possess a proven track record in change management, strong project management and guiding stakeholders through project lifecycle.
  • The successful candidate is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies, and internal control procedures, laws, and regulations governing the company.
  • Requirement Gathering and Analysis : Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into comprehensive functional and technical requirements. Conduct thorough analysis of existing systems, processes, and data to identify areas for improvement. Ability to document project objectives, business requirements, complex business flows, and data relationships in details
  • Business Processes and Documentation : Understand complex business flows and are willing to learn how business processes work in details Work closely with the development team and external vendors to design and document business and technical specifications for IT projects related to engineering. Create and review data flow charts, process workflows and system architecture diagrams
  • Stakeholder Communication : Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and any potential issues.
  • Quality Assurance : Define and execute test plans to ensure the reliability and functionality of developed systems. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve any identified issues. Familiarity with defect management tools such as HP ALM, Jira etc. Experience in leading SIT (Systems Integration Testing) and UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
  • Data Analysis and Reporting : Ability to run complex SQLs to perform data analysis, and to analyze data relationships from relational database tables and disjoint relationships Utilize data analysis tools to extract insights and support decision-making processes. Generate reports and dashboards to communicate project outcomes and performance metrics.
  • Network Modeling Software Expertise : Demonstrated proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information System) for mapping and analyzing spatial data related to utility networks. Hands-on experience with Gear software for power systems analysis and modeling. Familiarity with CYME (or equivalent) for distribution system planning and analysis.
  • Project Coordination and Support : Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and resource requirements. Actively participate in the review of proposals (e.g., Business Case, Intakes, RFPs etc.) Understand reporting requirements, from operational to managerial to strategic reporting to business
  • Change Management : Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions during project implementations. Facilitate communication and training to support end-users in adopting new technologies and processes.
  • Technology Evaluation and Recommendations : Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in electrical engineering and IT. Evaluate and review new solutions and make recommendations for their implementation in projects.

Business Analyst - Mandatory Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of Proven experience as a Business Analyst in IT projects related to electrical engineering or the utility sector.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, grid operations, and utility industry processes
  • A self-motivated individual who can work independently and, in a team with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under tight project timelines and manage project conflicts
  • Proficient in requirements gathering, system design, and documentation.
  • A general understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SLDC etc.)
  • Ability to validate system designs against business requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools and technologies in the electrical engineering and IT domains.
  • Experience with software testing and assisting customers with test planning, preparation and execution.
  • Microsoft Office Expertise (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote etc.)
