One of our food processing clients in British Columbia region is looking for a Chief Engineer 4th class for their facility.
Shift - Day
Pay Rate - $37 - $39 / hr
Responsibilities :
- Operate, maintain, and repair industrial ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of refrigeration equipment, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Monitor refrigeration pressures, temperatures, and system performance to maintain consistent food-grade conditions.
- Respond to refrigeration system alarms and resolve issues promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain and repair additional plant utilities, including boilers and air compressors systems.
- Ensure reliable operation of water and air systems essential for food production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues with plant equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for ammonia refrigeration systems and other critical utilities.
- Schedule and oversee regular inspections, servicing, and calibration of equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities to meet audit and compliance requirements.
Education and Certification
4th Class Power Engineer Certificate (mandatory).Ammonia Refrigeration Certification (e.g., RETA or equivalent) preferred.Additional training in PSM or food safety (an asset).Experience
3-5 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration within the food manufacturing or industrial environment.Knowledge of boilers, air compressors, and other utility systems.
