Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Geologist and Exploration Manager, the Geologist Summer Student will contribute to and supervise drill programs across NexGen’s land claims with the objective of economic uranium discovery. The incumbent will participate and contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan and execute drill program(s) with a strong focus on health and safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Engage in and supervise geological work including core logging, sample collection, and QA / QC to ensure exploration best practices;
  • Interpretation and reporting of geological data, developing assisting with geological models, and working with the Exploration Team to advance project understanding;
  • Planning and coordinating the detailed logistics of drill programs to ensure drill holes are prioritized to produce expected results and activities happen in a cost effective manner;
  • Planning drill hole locations and to effectively test targets as directed;
  • Completing required weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports;
  • Complete field work to ensure drill programs are conducted to high standards;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Geology;
  • Knowledge of geological software and databases considered an asset but not required (Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Geosoft, acQuire, etc);
  • Fluent computer skills and proficient in MS Office applications, (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in working with a broad range of people;
  • Comfortable working field rotations to support drill programs in remote locations;
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and demonstrates safety leadership;
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

    This position will be based in the Saskatoon office with a regular rotation to the Project site during drilling campaigns.
