Job Description

Higher Logic operates at scale, serving tens of millions of end users daily. As a member of the Platform Engineering team, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our SaaS infrastructure to promote DevOps excellence. This is a full-time position with the Platform Engineering Team. You will work both collaboratively and independently on concurrent, complex projects to execute our infrastructure road map and promote DevOps best practices within the organization. You will be relied on to employ a high degree of technical skill and precision in a global, multi-cloud environment running 24x7x365, while maintaining a positive and solution-focused attitude and strong working relationships with coworkers.

Platform Engineering at Higher Logic has primary responsibility for service reliability in the production environment. We also enable Engineering through the development and administration of CI / CD pipelines and the promotion of DevOps best practices. We operate at the intersection of Engineering, Operations, and Support, interacting with large parts of the company daily. The company frequently introduces new products, features, and services; these changes require a flexible, thoughtful, and forward-thinking approach to scalability and performance. As a DevOps Engineer, you will perform hands-on configuration and tuning of service resources, and work to architect and build independent microservices. This role requires strong self-learning capacity, optimism, focus, and close teamwork across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Building and supporting our cloud-based environment
• Manage and troubleshoot Linux-based systems in production and non-production environments
• Improve infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational processes
• Assist with incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to infrastructure standards and best practices
• Participate in applying software patches and security updates
• Value diversity of opinions, approaches, and backgrounds
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with others
• Understand the value of incremental solution delivery and POCs
• Think with an Agile mindset; familiar with Kanban and Scrum
• Work with Developers and Support to improve uptime of hosted services
• Share on-call responsibilities with team members
• Follow best cloud practices within engineering teams
