Senior Financial Analyst

Senior Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Program Manager, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in advancing Durham Region Transit's (DRT's) financial planning and analysis capabilities, supporting initiatives that strengthen fiscal sustainability, enable evidence-based decision-making, and align financial strategy with DRT's long-term service and infrastructure goals. This role is responsible for leading the development of complex financial models, maintaining accounting and forecast tools, and delivering timely, actionable financial analysis across DRT's operating and capital budget.

The incumbent will :

• Provide technical expertise in the preparation and maintenance of DRT's operating and capital budgets, aligning closely with internal financial policies, Regional guidelines, and Council-approved fiscal targets
• Develop and maintain financial reporting tools, variance analyses, and forecasting models to provide DRT management with timely, actionable insights into budget performance, funding utilization, and financial risk identification
• Support the development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of internal financial controls and processes to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, Regional policies, and funding conditions
• Provide analytical and technical financial support for strategic initiatives, major projects, and business case development across DRT to facilitate informed financial decision-making, optimal resource allocation, and effective implementation of transit programs
• Act as a financial resource to internal DRT teams by providing expert-level support, guidance, and training to departmental staff engaged in processes related to financial reporting, budgeting, and cost center management

The successful applicant must possess :

Management & Exempt Salary Grade 5
