About the role :
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a Legal Analyst to join Sun Life’s legal team. The successful candidate will support a variety of legal functions providing various day-to-day support for lawyers on the Sun Life Canada legal team. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative legal team that supports our group benefits, group retirement services businesses, client experience office and retail advice and solutions business. These businesses help Sun Life achieve its purpose which is to help clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
This role is based in our Waterloo, Toronto or Montreal office and you’ll report to the AVP & Managing Counsel, Group & CXO. This is a hybrid role.

What will you do?
- Research and summarize relevant legislation, case law, regulatory requirements and law firm publications impacting the financial services industry
- Provide proactive, timely and effective support to lawyers who support the various business units
- Manage information in designated repositories in SharePoint, OneDrive, Imanage etc.
- Provide support and advice on digital and data influenced initiatives
- Review and edit a variety of contractual arrangements
- Create templates for use by legal team and business
- Assess and implement new ways the legal analyst role can help the day-to-day work of lawyers
- Participate in and support team projects
What do you need to succeed?
2 - 4 years of experience in financial services, insurance, and lawA university degree preferably in a legal curriculum, librarian, paralegal or equivalentKnowledge of Sun Life products and services, the regulatory environment and emerging issues impacting the businessStrong research and analytical skills with attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEnthusiastic about leveraging data and technology to provide support to the lawyersInterested in learning complex and nuanced areas of laws relevant to the insurance, pensions, securities and financial services industry across CanadaAbility to work independently and as a member of a teamExcellent proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, AI toolsAs this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside QuebecPreferred Skills :
