What we are looking for :

This role offers a special chance to be a part of a well-respected independent asset management firm during a pivotal point in its growth. Fiera Capital is seeking an exceptional and motivated leader to contribute to the company's development and have an impact on the next phase of our institutional business expansion in Canada.

Under the leadership of the President and CEO, Fiera Canada and Global Private Wealth, the successful candidate will play a leading role in the firm’s efforts to distribute Fiera Capital’s strategies in Canada amongst the important and growing financial intermediaries’ market. Responsibilities include business development as well as servicing to drive retention of existing intermediaries’ partnerships (~32B AUM). S / he will develop and optimize Fiera’s strategy and approach to the Canadian intermediary market and thus help unlock significant growth potential for the firm by increasing the number, size and profitability of the firm’s key partnerships across Canada through Fiera’s diversified solution set.

As a member of the Canadian Institutional Markets Executive Committee, s / he will demonstrate exceptional leadership in driving a positive and diverse culture. The ideal candidate will be capable of coaching and developing a focused, high performing team and collaborating effectively with colleagues across the organization.

The successful candidate with work in close collaboration with the institutional business development team on new business opportunities. The position will be located at one of Fiera's main offices in Canada (Toronto or Montreal) and will require occasional travel to other Fiera's offices.

Your responsibilities :

  • In partnership with the Head of Canadian Institutional Business development, the candidate will develop and help implement the sales strategy across the intermediary channels in Canada to ensure the firm is optimally positioned within the targeted market.
  • Building off a base of established strategic relationships across Canada, generate new business opportunities and ensure revenue growth by prospecting, establishing, and cultivating strong relationships at executive level with Canadian financial intermediaries.
  • Ensure that sales targets are achieved by supporting the business development team with sales to new and existing clients through identifying and executing of new selling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Ensure strong brand recognition of Fiera within the Canadian financial intermediaries’ marketplace (bank platforms, broker-dealer platforms, multi-family offices, insurance platforms, etc.).
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships throughout varying market and performance conditions by providing clients with proactive and exceptional service.
  • Play a leadership role in the servicing of the financial intermediaries’ relationships and oversee the development and implementation of strategies to increase retention’s level.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client needs to uncover upselling opportunities.
  • Ensure Fiera provides market leading, innovative and first-class service to its financial intermediaries’ clients aligned with Fiera’s advisory approach to high quality client interaction model.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Fiera Capital platform and identify key strategies to distribute.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and diverse culture within the group and wider business.
  • Cultivate strong internal relationships and stay current on firm strategy, investments / investment strategy, and competitive landscape.
  • Must have requirements to be successful in this role :

    Fiera Capital is seeking to employ a seasoned leader who has a strong reputation and a proven track record of success generating revenues across the financial intermediaries’ marketplace through a highly sophisticated approach. The candidate should have the ability to influence outputs from a commercial standpoint but also from a relationship standpoint, with the view to possibly creating partnerships. The ideal candidate must possess natural leadership skills and represent Fiera's financial intermediaries’ business in Canada. They should also be self-motivated and resourceful, exhibit high levels of professionalism, and work collaboratively within a global organization.

    Ideal experience

  • 15+ years of experience in the institutional investment management industry in client sales / business development / relationship management roles in the Canadian marketplace.
  • Experience working with financial intermediary clients.
  • Experience working with multi-asset investment organizations on the institutional "buy-side" industry with a preference for candidates with private market experience.
  • Proven track record generating business growth and possess long-standing relationships with financial intermediaries in Canada.
  • Ability to develop and originate new investor relationships and nurture existing relationships to drive sales.
  • Overall awareness of key competitors and market trends.
  • Strong knowledge of a diversified investment platform across traditional and alternative asset classes.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, accounting, mathematics, actuary).
  • CFA designation or graduate degree a strong asset.
  • Critical leadership capabilities

    For all positions in Quebec (Montreal and Laval), proficiency in French, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Working English proficiency is also required in order to serve our offices and clients around the world.
