The Sun Life Health (SLH) business within Sun Life Canada is a leading provider of Group Benefits and Health Solutions. A market leader in the advancement of workplace mental health across Canada, through the introduction of new tools such as Virtual Health Care and Stress Management and Well-Being program providing members access to mental health and medical specialists 24 / 7. SLH is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its fast-paced and energetic Finance team.
Reporting to the Director, Financial Controls, Audit & Risk, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in executing and supporting control activities critical to the Sun Life Health business.
What will you do?
Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by Financial Analysts to ensure they are accurate and meet SOX and Sun Life standards.
Prepare complex account reconciliations, identify, investigate, and resolve differences.
Support internal and external audits.
Validate, improve, and document key business processes and controls.
Draft ICFR / Error memos and technical accounting / application memos for new or changing businesses.
Prepare quarterly balance sheet review and variance commentary.
What do you need to succeed?
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in audit, financial reporting, technical accounting, and / or internal controls.
CPA designation.
Understanding of IFRS and SOX controls relevant to the insurance industry.
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Self-motivated, results-oriented and flexible to changing priorities and timelines.
Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life.
