Role Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Technology, ERP, the ERP Test Automation Lead SAP Automation Tester is responsible for leading automation testing activities across SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, and enterprise applications that are coordinated. This role will support major implementation, upgrade, and regression cycles by crafting, developing, and accomplishing automated test suites using Tricentis Tosca and industry-standard QA practices.

The lead for ERP test automation collaborates with functional analysts, technical teams, test management leads, and integration partners. They focus on delivering quality through robust test automation, data-driven testing, and efficient test execution. This role is accountable for ensuring scalability of test automation, identifying automation opportunities, establishing reusable frameworks, and contributing to overall test strategy and quality governance across SAP and non-SAP applications.

This is an initial 12-month contract to start with strong possibility of extension based on program needs.

Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Promote adherence to security and compliance standards during all testing and automation activities.

Test Automation Strategy, Planning & Governance

• Define automation scope, strategy, standards, and guidelines aligned to SAP S/4HANA program objectives.
• Develop automation frameworks by bringing to bear Tricentis Tosca, including DEX setup, TDS test data services, and reusable component libraries.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure alignment of test build, scripts, and automation coverage with functional and technical requirements.
• Ensure traceability of automated test cases to business requirements, regression needs, and defect lifecycle processes.

Automation Development & Execution

• Lead end-to-end automation development for SAP GUI, SAP Fiori, S4 HANA, Concur, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Open Text, Third Party connection automation and integrated systems.
• Implement automated test cycles, including smoke, regression, and integration testing across multi-system environments.
• Manage automation execution results, defect detection, defect triage, and reporting using qTest or similar test management tools.
• Ensure stable test environments, data readiness, and upstream/downstream dependencies are met for execution.
• Evaluate and optimize automation coverage, identifying high-value scenarios for continuous automation improvements.

Integration & Test Data Management

• Apply TDS (Test Data Service) and dynamic data-handling mechanisms to enable data-driven testing for complex SAP scenarios.
• Work with functional teams to identify dynamic or dependency-based test data needs, including upstream data consumption.
• Support integration validation within SAP and non-SAP systems, ensuring automation compatibility and stable end-to-end flows.

Collaboration, Communication & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with development, functional, and DevOps teams to support CI/CD alignment and automated quality gates (where applicable).
• Provide clear testing status, automation coverage reports, and execution outcomes to QA leadership and program collaborators.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of automation methodologies, tools, reporting, and quality engineering capabilities.
• Mentor junior testers and support knowledge-sharing across the QA organization.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA testing projects, including full implementations or major upgrade cycles.
• Deep understanding of SAP testing across SAP GUI, SAP Fiori, and integrated business processes.
• Proficient in the use of Tricentis Tosca, including:
• DEX setup and execution
• Tosca Commander
• TDS (Test Data Service)
• Certified as a Tricentis Tosca Automation Specialist Level 1 & 2.
• Completed Test Data Specialist 1 & 2 training.
• Hands-on experience with software testing coordination tools such as qTest (or comparable applications).
• Proven knowledge of test case management, test execution workflows, and automation reporting.

Nice-to-Have

• Working knowledge of DevOps practices and integration with automated testing pipelines.
• Experience crafting dynamic or dependent-data test scenarios (“consumes data” cases).
• Ability to independently identify automation opportunities and optimize existing workflows.
• Experience automating tests for SAP C4C or SuccessFactors.
• Demonstrates good communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
• Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies, sprint planning, and QA ceremonies.
• Understanding of regression strategies, traceability, defect lifecycle management, and end-to-end quality governance.
