This position focuses on the handling of bodily injury tort claims nationwide, investigating liability and quantum, negotiating settlements, and collaborating with claimants, legal counsel, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Investigate claims regarding liability, injuries, and other accident‑related damages promptly and thoroughly.
- Establish and maintain adequate case reserves in accordance with BI reserving protocols.
- Comply with all protocols regarding identification, notification, and reporting to Major Claims.
- Maintain proactive file handling and manage both indemnity and expenses, ensuring sound cost‑management principles.
- Exercise sound judgment in evaluating and resolving complex claims.
- Communicate with claimants, counsel, witnesses, healthcare professionals, law‑enforcement personnel, and forensic experts to facilitate resolution.
- Manage claimant expectations through regular follow‑up contact and timely delivery of commitments.
- Build trust and business relationships with plaintiff and defence counsel to resolve files efficiently.
- Complete all required reports and notepad entries in a timely manner.
- Attend mediations, pre‑trials, trials, JDRs, and other meetings; travel and overnight stays may be required.
Requirements
Minimum 2‑3 years of insurance adjusting experience (AB or BI preferred).Sound knowledge of the current Rules of Civil Procedure.Strong understanding of the insurance industry and the related legal environment.Ability to prioritize and complete claims handling activities across multiple stakeholders.Superior interpersonal, communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.Detail‑oriented, proactive, and adaptable to a fast‑paced, multi‑faceted environment.Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.Active pursuit of CIP designation or other relevant continuing education is preferred.The position may require occasional overnight travel.
