Methods Engineer

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Methods Engineering Manager, the Methods Engineering Technologist – Machine Shop is responsible for developing and maintaining manufacturing planning documentation to ensure aircraft assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts are produced in accordance with the approved type design. The role supports production execution through robust methods planning, engineering change support, and cross-functional problem solving with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Engineering Masters (EM) and Work Instructions (WI) that define parts, processes, and special instructions for part and assembly production
• Create 3D models from engineering definitions using SolidWorks
• Develop Manufacturing Instruction Sheets (MIS), sketches, and related documentation detailing manufacturing requirements and special instructions for structural, system, and electrical installations
• Specify tooling and equipment required for manufacturing and assembly of aircraft components
• Submit and support engineering change requests to improve build quality, manufacturability, and efficiency, including make-versus-buy evaluations
• Investigate manufacturing issues and collaborate cross-functionally to assess cost, impact, and risk associated with production changes
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and process standardization efforts
• Assist with non-conformance management activities and planning for manufacturing efficiency improvements
• Provide technical training and guidance to production and assembly personnel in support of the Quality Management System (QMS)

Experience and Qualifications:

• Relevant education or equivalent experience in aerospace or manufacturing environments
• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Seven or more years of experience in detail part manufacturing (machining), preferably in an aerospace environment
• Prior experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Methods Engineering roles
• Working knowledge of aircraft part fabrication and assembly processes
• Understanding of cost accounting, estimating, and aerospace engineering principles
• Experience with FDM additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and slicing or toolpathing software is considered an asset (e.g., Stratasys Insight, Stratasys Control Center)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
• Proficiency with CAD and manufacturing software, including SolidWorks and Mastercam (required), with experience in CATIA or AutoCAD considered an asset
• Strong ability to multitask, make sound technical decisions, and communicate effectively with internal customers
