POSITION : MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST
Core Lab
Primary Site : Stratford
Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY : The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs both routine and advanced test procedures, as necessary, for the efficient functioning of his / her area of assignment.
REPORTS TO : Laboratory Technical Manager
DATE REQUIRED : As soon as possible
SALARY : $ to $ per hour
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program
- Current or eligible for registration with the CMLTO in the disciplines of Blood Bank, Hematology and Biochemistry
EXPERIENCE :
Preferably at least two years recent technical experience in a core lab.
ABILITIES :
- Working knowledge of Meditech Information System and personal computer applications
- Able to exercise initiative in problem solving
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in a stressful environment
- Ability to organize, prioritize and adapt to constant changing priorities.
- Ability to direct, mentor, correct and report on work of MLA
- Computer literate (LIS, word processing and spreadsheet programs)
- Be familiar with phlebotomy techniques and all types of blood collection.
- Competency as described in the Competency Profile General Medical Laboratory Technologist,
as published by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
