Our client, a leading manufacturer of metals-based components for a variety of Industries, including Automotive, located in Windsor is seeking an experienced Manufacturing / Process Engineer (Metal Fabrication) with a minimum of 5 years of experience with metal fabrication processes within a high-volume automotive Tier 1 manufacturing environment.
The Manufacturing / Process Engineer (Metal Fabrication) is integral to the design, development, and optimization of fabrication processes, ensuring the manufactured products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The Manufacturing / Process Engineer (Metal Fabrication) will leverage their expertise to innovate and enhance manufacturing capabilities while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams . This role supports the cost estimating, design and analysis of metal fabricated profiles and parts. This role works closely with senior engineers, die designers, manufacturing, and sales to ensure fabricated components meet performance, manufacturability, and cost targets.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop fabrication processes for various materials, ensuring efficiency and quality across production lines.
- Perform cost estimating function for fabrication profiles and parts
- Understand key cost drivers : material weight, press size, alloy, production yield, production scrap, secondary operations
- Lead or support engineering projects of varying complexity
- Conduct failure analysis and troubleshooting of fabrication techniques, implementing corrective actions to improve yields.
- Collaborate with product design teams to assess manufacturability and provide feedback on design specifications.
- Implement and optimize manufacturing processes using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Lead the development of process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in fabrication techniques.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is required5+ years of experience with metal fabrication, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools for process design and analysis.Experience with fabrication techniques such as welding, machining, and additive manufacturing.Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems.Experience with automation and robotics in fabrication processes.Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to fabrication.Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.Skills :
Fluency in CAD applications such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.Knowledge of materials science and properties relevant to fabrication processes.Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance methodologies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.A proactive and innovative mindset, always seeking to improve processes and outcomes.Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture
