About the Position
Under the direction of the Camp Programmer, the Senior Camp Leader is responsible for leading, planning, and delivering day-to-day programming for children in a group setting. This role involves overseeing the safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of participants while providing high-quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences. The Senior Camp Leader also plays a key leadership role by mentoring and guiding Camp Leaders within their assigned age group, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise and collaborate with Camp Leaders, providing direction, mentorship, and constructive feedback.
Assist the Camp Programmer and Recreation Coordinator in planning and implementing the annual orientation and training for Camp Leaders.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by enforcing camp policies, emergency procedures, and safety protocols.
Plan and implement daily programming schedules, delegating responsibilities to Camp Leaders as required.
Assist the Camp Programmer in orienting campers to camp rules, expectations, and routines.
Lead recreational activities for small and large groups, modeling positive behavior and enthusiasm.
Oversee daily check-in and check-out procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Complete required documentation, including incident reports, first aid reports, and weekly schedules.
Monitor camp supplies and maintains a clean, organized, and safe campsite environment.
Communicate professionally with parents / guardians, addressing questions and concerns promptly and effectively.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for campers, staff, and the public.
Work collaboratively with the Camp Programmer, Recreation Coordinator, peers, Camp Leaders to ensure program success.
Provide guidance and mentorship to campers, modeling appropriate behavior and positive language.

What you need to Succeed...
Pursuing an education and career in Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth Studies, Early Childhood Education, or another similar field.
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C Certificate.
Valid High Five : Principles of Healthy Childhood Development Certification.
Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (as per the City’s Police Background Check procedure).
Experience working with community groups and youth groups is considered an asset.
Proven experience in camp or recreational program leadership.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and guide staff.
Strong customer service, planning, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
Salary and Benefit Information
$21.48 - $22.33 (2026 Rate) Plus OMERS pension is available
