Purpose of Role : Provide expertise in Land Based Test Capability (LBTC) and Facility (LBTF), as well as Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services in support of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). Offer multi-disciplinary engineering and technical services related to the River Class Destroyer (RCD) Naval Combat System. Weir Marine Engineering supports the RCD Project Management Office (PMO) within the Department of National Defence (DND) Office at the Bluenose building in Dartmouth, NS. The LBTC / LBTF Specialist will review, develop, and integrate mechanical systems, along with conducting IV&V activities in support of the RCD LBTC Test Program, primarily at the LBTF in Hartlen Point, NS. The candidate may also support other project areas as required, including Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Performance Modelling and Simulation (M&S), and Synthetic Environment Support activities. This is a full-time, permanent position with a requirement for regular work both in-office and onboard RCN ships.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Integration Development : Review, develop, and integrate electrical sub-systems and systems into the LBTF by assisting with detailed design, reviewing cable run sheets, electrical load analysis, interface specifications, equipment integration, and set to work activities.Verification & Validation (V&V) : Execute V&V activities for systems, software, and hardware; evaluate test plans, procedures, scenarios, and results; ensure traceability and verification criteria; monitor test activities; identify and mitigate risks and anomalies.Technical Documentation : Review system requirements specifications, interface control documents, system design descriptions, hazard analyses, and equipment installation plans.Client Support : Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders; liaise with subject matter experts, DND customers, and suppliers.Safety First : Demonstrate commitment to zero harm and safety culture.Job Knowledge, Education and Qualifications
Mandatory : Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, requiring Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada.Mandatory : Engineering technologist diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or computer science, or equivalent military experience supporting the Royal Canadian Navy in combat system engineering.Desirable : 10 years of significant and recent related experience, including familiarity with System, Software and Hardware Verification & Validation techniques and processes.Mandatory : Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking); ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and clients; capable of drafting reports, technical correspondence, and procedure manuals.Desirable : Proficiency in software configuration control, systems engineering lifecycle, requirements management tools, and knowledge in simulation, stimulation, and analysis tools.Founded in 1871, Weir is a global engineering company with a purpose to build smarter, more sustainable mining operations.
