Purpose of the Role

The Specialist, Proposal Writer is a critical member of the Pursuits Team, who operates in an environment where meeting critical deadlines and managing multiple stakeholder relationships are key to success. This strategic role requires exceptional ability to create winning proposals and pitches while navigating compressed timelines and coordinating with time-sensitive stakeholders across the firm.

This role offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the firm's client and business growth objectives while developing expertise in professional services marketing and business development. The incumbent requires a combination of focus and flexibility, and a willingness to play an active and collaborative role within the broader Clients & Markets team.

Key Responsibilities

Proposal Development & Execution

  • Lead time-sensitive RFP responses from strategy through submission
  • Rapidly analyze RFP requirements and develop focused response strategies
  • Transform lawyer input into compelling proposal narratives under tight deadlines
  • Ensure quality control and brand consistency across all deliverables

Strategic Writing & Content Development

  • Write persuasive executive summaries and proposal content under pressure
  • Quickly synthesize complex legal information into clear value propositions
  • Edit and refine content from multiple contributors into a cohesive narrative
  • Maintain proposal quality standards while meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Strategic Agility & Time Management

  • Excel in managing multiple concurrent proposals with competing deadlines
  • Implement agile processes to quickly gather input from busy lawyers and practice groups
  • Maintain exceptional quality standards while working under tight timelines
  • Pivot smoothly between priorities based on business urgency and opportunity value
  • Stakeholder Management Excellence

  • Navigate complex stakeholder dynamics with confidence and diplomacy
  • Build trust with Partners and leadership through reliable execution and strategic insight
  • Proactively manage up and across to ensure timely input and approvals
  • Demonstrate political savvy and emotional intelligence in high-pressure situations
  • Process & Project Management

  • Drive proposal development through efficient, deadline-driven workflows
  • Create and maintain realistic project timelines that respect stakeholders' competing priorities
  • Implement systems to track multiple concurrent proposals and dependencies
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential delays or bottlenecks
  • Key Competencies

  • 3-5 years of proposal writing experience in fast-paced professional services environment
  • Proven track record of meeting demanding deadlines while maintaining quality
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with ability to influence at senior levels
  • Superior project management capabilities with emphasis on timeline management
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills with focus on rapid turnaround
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite; InDesign proficiency an asset
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Writing, Journalism, or English
  • French written skills an asset
  • Availability to work overtime
