Senior Capital Projects Accountant

Capital expenditure accounting leads this Senior General Accountant position in Port Colborne, Ontario, with fixed assets and financial reporting at its core. The role is full-time and 100% in-person.

Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada is seeking a senior accountant for its new plant start-up. You will manage capital projects, fixed asset records, month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis. The position reports directly to the Director of Finance and supports Hipore™ battery separator manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage capital expenditure accounting for construction and operational projects
• Maintain fixed asset subledger additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
• Reconcile construction-in-progress projects through timely capitalization
• Prepare financial statements and monthly closing support schedules
• Support grants, tax incentives, and funding documentation requirements

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or related field
• Five-plus years of relevant general accounting experience
• Experience with fixed assets and construction-in-progress accounting
• Knowledge of Canadian GAAP and ASPE
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and ERP experience
