Library Customer Service Associate VPL

Help patrons discover library services at Vancouver Public Library through patient customer service, clear communication, and welcoming support fully on-site. Work across busy service desks and community programs.

This Library Public Service Associate I position serves people from diverse backgrounds at VPL locations. You will check materials in and out, respond to basic questions, and contribute to programs for adults, kids, and teens. The role combines public interaction, physical library work, and reliable task completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide friendly, respectful, and responsive service to patrons
• Check library materials in and out at service desks
• Sort, shelve, lift, and move high volumes of resources
• Help set up author events and creative programs
• Supervise Lego block parties or host film screenings

Requirements:

• Grade 12 completion supplemented by relevant courses or experience
• Customer service experience is a great asset
• Flexibility, kindness, and clear public communication
• Comfort handling multiple tasks and technology
• Ability to stand, reach, bend, squat, grip, and push
